Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules. The Septage Land Application Site consists of Field 1 (6.8 acres), Field 2 (10.9 acres) and Field 3 (9.0 acres) for a total of 26.7 usable acres. Field 1 (foreground), Field 2 (middle), Field 3 (background) 2. The site is permitted for land application of domestic septage and grease trap pumpings. 3. The access road was in fair condition 4. Appropriate signage was displayed at the entrance to the fields. 5. All septage discharges appear to have been made within the disposal area boundary. 6. In Field 1 was observed with a crop of common Bermuda grass in the spring (5 lbs. per acre) overseeded with ryegrass each Fall (35 lbs per acre). Follow the Nutrient Management plan (NMP) for seeding and harvest. Cattle and Llamas were on this field. 7. Field 2 was observed with recent land application. This field contained mostly fescue; continue weed control in accordance with the NMP. 8. In Field 3 no recent land applications were observed. The NMP must be followed in regards to re-seeding and weed control. FACILITY COMPLIANCE INSPECTION REPORT Division of Waste Management Solid Waste Section Page 3 of 3 9. As a reminder, Permit Condition 2 states: “The mandatory 30-day waiting period between the last application of septage and the harvest or grazing of a crop shall be maintained. All discharges shall be at locations on the site consistent with the crop rotation in the approved plan.” 10. No objectionable odors were observed.
