Dear Al,
On May 22, 2004, about 2 p.m., a Hilco trailer that was loaded with solid waste and parked ready for
transport at the Transfer Station scales, caught fire. The fire department was notified and County
employees hooked up to the trailer and moved it to a safer location in order to extinguish the fire.
When the fire department arrived, County workers unloaded the trash and the fire was put out as it
came out of the trailer.
After several hours, to insure the fire was completely out, County workers removed trash from the
ground and processed back thru the Transfer Station.
Damages to the trailer, based on previous similar fires, are estimated at about $3,000.00. Also, the
incident will cause a few hours in overtime along with equipment hours, for the clean up.
Sincerely,
Mike Aaddef
