We have completed our construction process and the Transfer Station is ready for service again. Several changes were made during the remodeling such as: a 1500 gallon grey water collection tank was installed, a splash guard to prevent waste from spilling over the push wall was installed, a large wall where the transfer trailer parks for loading was installed to hold loose debris in a confined area, and an office unit has been added to our site. I will include a site drawing, and any other information available with this request. At the time of this letter, we do not have an agreement with a local waste water treatment facility to accept our grey water. However, I do believe we should have one very soon. We may be required to take samples and analyze the grey water prior to an agreement, much the same way a local industry does before they can tap on to the system. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at (828) 659- 2521. Sincerel , E Mike Gladden, Director of Public Works McDowell County cc: Al Hetzell Tim Jewett 1 r s er Station air rw ications 1. Remove approximately a 50'X50'X8" thick reenforced concrete floor, including a steel panel overhang. 2. Replace the floor and reconstruct the overhang with reenforced concrete as one unit. 3. A wear surface of approximately 8" thick must be installed on floor including the overhang, without reenforcement, for the purpose of replacing the floor again without removing the reenforced floor ( high resistance or hard surface concrete. ) 4. Remove approximately 50'X6'X10" thick `push wall" from one side of the floor. 5. Replace push wall, tied in with floor reenforcement with a minimum of 14" reenforced concrete and 10" wear surface for the purpose of replacing wall again without disturbing the reenforced wall. 6. Install a batter, 0.' splash shield, to proven. spillage of solid waste, on top of the push wall, angled approximately one and one away from floor, 6' high and the length of the push wall. Use .25" steel panels. 7. Overhang of floor lowest point no lover than 13'6% and must Pxtend over, approximately 24" from the lowest point to the end of overhang, at an angle of approximately 30 degree, will be solid reenforced concrete. 8. On the lower side pad for parking tractor trailer, length of pad will be extended 50' X 8" thick of reenforced concrete 10' wide. 9. The portion of the trailer pad that is under roof will be widened approximately 4' X 75' X 8". 10. At the rear end of the trailer pad, A collection drain will be installed, for the collection of waste water. The 4' X 75' X 8" pad, will be sloped to this drain. 11. An ` undergro-i-ond rated" grey water holding tank will be installed, with.. minimum capacity of 1500 gallons. The tank will be plumbed to the waste water collection drain, and vented up the side of the transfer station building a minimum of 24' high. The tank will also have an accessible above ground opening, for the purpose of removing waste water. 12. A "rub rail", on the inside vertical wall and trailer pad, will be installed and doweled or reenforced to the wall. The rub rail will be concrete 12" X 12" X 75' long, with a bevel 45 degree, from the top outside comer, back to the wall. This is for the purpose of blind side backing a trailer in without contacting the wall. 13. A vertical wall at the rear end of the trailer pad will be installed. This will also be a push wall on the inside and will have backfill on the back side. The approximate size of the push wall will be I'thick, X 12' high X 16' wide, reenforced concrete. The bottom inside corner will bevel at a 45 degree angle up 2' high, the full length of the wall. This is for the purpose of scooping up spillage with a front end loader. 14. There are 7 s': ; Letural support points of the transfer station cover that have a cylinder shaped bumper iuard of concrete formed and poured around them. Each Jaard will be approximately 3' diameter and 3' high. l . The Guards will also protect gutter down spouts at 4 points in which PVC piping will be installed to drain entire roof system in the opposite direction of the grey water tank. The underground pipe mu-L be a minimum of 12". All concrete poured will be of surface hardness and P, I strength to withstand daily heavy equipment operations, and resist wear. 17. Core samples will be taken an sample tested to design engineer specifications. FEE 01 'lei = : 34PM MCDG -•.
