RE: Highlands C & D Landfill

Dear Jim:
This letter is in response to concerns you voiced regarding the vertical control for the Highlands
Demolition Landfill. The original bench mark used for the design of the landfill has been destroyed.
On November 8, 1993, 1 established two (2) temporary bench marks. I used the invert of the culvert
crossing Wilson Gap Road as a reference point with an elevation of 2062.5. This elevation was interpolated
from the contours on the landfill engineering plans. The temporary bench marks are:
1. Corner of the concrete slab
for the truck scales. ELEV. 2985.48
2. Nail in a Maple near cell #1. ELEV. 2980.71
These temporary bench marks should be accurate to 1.0'±. I trust this will be satisfactory.
