(If additional space is needed, use back of this form) NAME OF FACILITY: Buncombe County Solid Waste PERMIT # 11-07 DATE AND TIME OF FIRE: 1/3/2022 @ 7:00 am HOW WAS THE FIRE REPORTED AND BY WHOM: Solid Waste Personnel LIST ACTIONS TAKEN: Buncombe County personnel used heavy equipment to remove the area of mulch that caught fire and extinguished it. WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE: Mulch got hot during the Winter Weather Advisory, the high wind speeds experienced at the facility this morning contributed to causing the mulch fire. DESCRIBE AREA, TYPE, AND AMOUNT OF WASTE INVOLVED: Mulch area within the T&P area. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THIS FIRE: Buncombe County Personnel frequently turn the mulch piles after grinding, and will make additional turns to the mulch piles. DESCRIBE PLAN OF ACTIONS TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS: Buncombe County staff will continue to turn the mulch piles and will turn more frequently.
