Dear Mark,
LaBella Associates (LaBella) is submitting the attached methane monitoring report for the East
Burke Landfill, Permit Number 12-02. The 2021 Fourth quarter landfill gas monitoring event was
performed on November 1, 2021. During this event, LaBella monitored seven gas probes (GP-1,
GP-113, GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, GP-5, and GP-6). The approximate locations of the gas probes are depicted
in Drawingl. The monitoring data for the gas probes and buildings are summarized in the attached
Landfill Gas Monitoring Data Log.
Methane was detected above the lower explosive limit (LEL) in gas probes GP-1, GP-3, and GP-4;
however, note that methane was not detected above the LEL in GP-113, which is between GP-1 and
the property boundary. Methane was detected below the LEL in GP-5, GP-6, and GP-2. These
exceedances are consistent with previous results. The detections and exceedances are summarized
in Table 1 and Table 2, respectively.
We have included a NCDEQ Environmental Monitoring Reporting Form (EMRF) and will forward a
copy of this report to Jaclynne Drummond with the NCDEQ Solid Waste Section. A copy of this report
should be maintained in the facility's records. The next quarterly monitoring event is scheduled for
the first quarter 2022. If we can provide any additional information, please do not hesitate to call
