Dear David:
This letter is in reference to your email concerning a proposed septic field that would be placed adjacent to the
Greene County C&D Landfill. The landfill also includes the closed Greene County MSW Landfill, Permit 4002-
MSWLF-1982.
It is our understanding that a new County building is planned to be built west of the landfill, outside the
monitoring compliance boundary. The location of the septic field for this building would be located near the
northwest corner of the landfill, about 110 feet west of the waste boundary, as shown in the attached submitted
diagram.
The Section does not have objections to the septic field being installed in this area, with the following conditions:
1. During construction, measures must be taken to protect any nearby groundwater and landfill gas
monitoring wells or probes from being damaged, especially from heavy equipment and vehicles.
2. The landfill gas monitoring plan should be modified to include indoor landfill gas monitoring inside the
new building, at each monitoring event. Your consultant should contact Perry Sugg, see below, regarding
the gas monitoring plan change.
3. Both the construction and normal operation of the septic field must not have an adverse impact on the
landfill, including the integrity of the final cap, and with groundwater and landfill gas monitoring.
