Per your further request, I am issuing maintenance work orders to improve surface drainage across two areas of the landfill. The mud deposits in the sediment basin will also be cleaned as part of that same work order. I trust these measures will place this landfill in condition for closeout. Should you have any questions, please let me know. Sincerely, Marshall B. Roberts, AIA Director of Facility Services MBR/v Attachment PC: Dr. Roy M. ARBIE RHODES PRINCIPAL FROM: MARSHALL B. ROBERTS, AIA Z DIRECTOR OF FACILITY SERVICES SUBJECT: VALLEY SPRINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL SANITARY LANDFILL On August 25, 1992, Mr. Al Hetzell with the North Carolina Department of Environment, Ilealth, and Natural Resources visited the landfill to sample the earth cover over the debris. During the course of his site visit, he noticed two pedestrian trails that transverse the slope at the end of the landfill. We were told that this area is being used for physical education running. He requested that we cease any form of activity on that slope. Therefore, please advise your staff from using that bank for running activities. His concern is that erosion is beginning to occur down the faces of the slope where they have been running. MBR/v -Pt!. '--Mf' Albefl Hegel]
