Permit #45-01 Dear Mr. Coffey: Gary T. Tweed, P.E. County Engineer Henderson County by letter dated November 1.5, 2001 requested approval of an alternative closure cap design for the C&D Landfill located on top of the Closed MSW Landfill. To date there has been no response to this request. We have discussed this issue several times with Mr. Jim Patterson and he has made several phone calls concerning the review by your staff. It was his understanding that a letter was forthcoming several weeks ago, but to date there has been no response. Henderson County made this request back in November of 2001 trying to be prepared to complete the cap during the Spring of 2002. We feel that the alternative cap is an improvement over the RMC cap as originally designed. As result of no response by your office, none of the final cap work has been completed. Since we have missed the Spring seeding season, our plans are to complete the cap through the summer and seed this Fall. The site was closed in November 2001 with a soil cap and is stable at this time. Should we not have a response from your office by June 1, 2001, we will have no choice but to proceed with the alternative cap as planned.
