Enclosed is basically a summary of the estimations made for the Henderson County Sanitary Landfill's potential expansion life. Please pay special attention to the assumptions made and the points where the "best information" immediately available had to be used. As we discussed in our telephone conversation (16 March 1981) about these results, we had to use less than adequate topographic information and make many assumptions. Should you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us. I am looking forward to meeting with you and the Henderson County Commissioners to discuss these results as you have requested. Very truly yours, POST, BUCKLEY, SCHUH & JERNIGAN, INC. Main Street, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28739. * That the future landfilling on this site will conform with the assumptions made in these calculations for height, slopes, etc. * That appropriate earthmoving equipment will be used for the ex- cavations (i.e. the present site equipment will not be adequate). * That daily soil volumes used for the refuse cover will not exceed a ratio of four volumes of in -place refuse to one volume of daily soil cover. This will require a more efficient usage of soil than has been exercised in the past at this site. * That the geo-technical data contained within the Atec, Inc. report is true and correct. * That the survey data furnished by Jon Laughter is true and correct. * That the rock encountered will be at least partially excavatable. * That the volume of refuse coming into the site is approximately 125 tons per day, and that, for purposes of the life time of landfill estimates, does not change with time. * That the North Carolina Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Branch agrees with the particular assumptions for future landfilling depths, bottom, height, slopes, ecetera that have been made for purposes of these estimates. * That any change in the basis for which these aforementioned as- sumptions have been made will have a direct effect on the reli- ability of the estimation contained in this report.
