SUBJECT: Resolution of Notice of Violation Scotland County Transfer Station
8302T-TRANSFER-1997
Scotland County
Dear Mr. Higgins:
On October 26, 2021, David Powell, representing the State of North Carolina, Division of Waste Management
Solid Waste Section (Section) inspected the above referenced facility. At the time of the inspection, Section staff
observed the leachate area has been cleaned up and a new berm installed for trailers to back onto. New leachate collection bins are now also available and being used in conjunction with 55-gallon drums. Drums will allow for
any leak discovered along the trailer to have a collection bin. A sampling plan was submitted to the Section,
approved, and satisfied, with no further action required per email dated September 27, 2021, from Mr. Williams
Sugg with the Section.
This letter serves to confirm that the requirements of the Notice of Violation dated August 31, 2021, have been satisfied and the violation(s) have been corrected. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have
any questions, please contact me at (910) 433 - 3350 or e-mail david.powell@ncdenr.gov.
Sincerely,
David Powell
