STATUS OF PERMIT:
The Original Yard Waste Notification was submitted to the Section on April 5, 2021. Renewal YWN submitted on October
26, 2021. Yard Waste Notifications must be submitted to the Section by June 1st of each year.
PURPOSE OF SITE VISIT:

STATUS OF PAST NOTED VIOLATIONS:
None.
OBSERVED VIOLATIONS:
None.
The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The facility will accept yard waste from Fuquay-Varina.
2. The waste will be placed in windrows and turned.
3. Mr. Johnson will utilize the composted yard waste on his farm. No yard waste will be sold to the public. If Mr. Johnson
chooses to sell the compost to the public in the future, the yard waste temperatures must be monitored to ensure the
reduction of pathogens. As per 15A NCAC 13B .1406 (11), the temperatures shall be maintained at or above 55
degrees Celsius (131 degrees F) for three days and aerated to maintain elevated temperatures.
4. The site had been mown and sloped to shed water.
5. During this inspection, it was noted that operations have not started, setbacks were being met, and edge of waste
markers were installed. The operations area was determined to be less than 2 acres.
6. The facility is secured by a locking gate and berm. The building to house paperwork will be constructed to the left of
the locking gate. Signage will be posted on the building.
7. Mr. Johnson was given the green light to start operating this yard waste facility.
