Summary: Single story, 300,000 square ft., Ashley Manufacturing flat-pack furniture
manufacturing facility. There is a recently constructed steel framed building used for
dust collection on the southwest corner of the furniture manufacturing facility (Photo 2).
There are no records in DEQ Brownfields files of this building’s existence. It is used for
dust collection and is not used as work or office space.

Summary: N/A

Summary: Only chemicals observed was 55-gallon drums of disinfectant (Photo 7).
Water based glues are also used in the manufacturing process.

Condition:
Summary: Mr. David Moore believed that all the monitoring wells present on the
property were in good condition. No effort was made to access site wells although the
monitoring well vaults observed did appear to be in good condition. According to Mr.
Moore, groundwater sampling is scheduled to take place within the next couple of
weeks.

Other than the employee parking lots, the perimeter of the property is fenced, and site
access is strictly controlled. In addition, the northern portion of the site labeled
"contaminated" in the NBP is below paving or established groundcover.

Photo 1: Photograph of the Ashley Manufacturing facility facing northwest across Meacham Rd.

An unannounced Site Inspection was performed while performing Brownfield’s property
inspections in the Statesville area which had not been visited in several years. This
property was last inspected in 2014.

As mentioned previously, the newer dust collection building located off the southwest
corner of the manufacturing facility may be a violation if footers were installed or any
grading was performed below the existing pavement.

There are no records of this building’s existence in DEQ’s files, and LUR #4 prohibits the
exposing or disturbance of soils underlying paved or impervious surfaces at the property.
