PURPOSE OF SITE VISIT: Compliance Inspection STATUS OF PAST NOTED VIOLATIONS: None OBSERVED VIOLATIONS: None The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules. The facility is fenced and is secured by a locking gate when it is not open for operation. 2. The correct signage is at the entrance of the facility listing the facility name, permit number, and emergency contact information as well as material accepted at the facility. 3. The facility accepts waste Monday through Friday 0800 to 1630 and Saturday 0800 to 1200. 4. Paperwork was not reviewed during this inspection. 5. During this inspection, it was noted that there was damage to the southeastern corner of the transfer station building. Mr. Deming stated that a driver had hit the corner of the building while the truck was up. Mr. Deming also stated that he had the building inspected; the damage was superficial and there was no damage to the structural beams. 6. The tipping floor was clean at the time of the inspection. 7. The gap previously identified between the leachate collection drain, push wall, and diversion berm at the front of the transfer station had been filled in. 8. Minimal waste was observed on the top of the push walls. Ensure that the waste is removed from the top of the push wall by the end of the day. The waste observed within the transfer trailer bay was being actively removed between transfer trailers. 9. The sidewalls and loading area had been power washed and cleaned. Good job! 10. The previously identified eroded metal along the transfer trailer bay had been repaired. 11. Windblown debris was being well -managed around the transfer station with minimal windblown noted during the inspection. Windblown debris was being picked up at the time of this inspection. 12. The damaged pavement identified in the February 2021 inspection report had been repaired. 13. During this inspection, an empty trailer near the entrance was identified to have a hole in the side. Upon inspection, the hole was only through the outer sheeting and the interior of the trailer was intact. It is recommended that the trailers are inspected for holes prior to being utilized to transport waste. 14. Digital photographs were taken during the inspection.
