Dear Mr. Olin:
The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Brownfields Program has received and
reviewed the Brownfields Post Environmental Management Monitoring Report dated September 1, 2021
(Report) for the above referenced Brownfields Property. The Report summarized preliminary assessment
and post final grade assessment activities associated with subsurface sewer line work along Warehouse
Street in Eden, NC, that encroached onto the subject Brownfields Property.
The Report indicates that arsenic was the only target compound detected in the final grade samples above
applicable North Carolina Commercial PSRG. However, the concentrations detected were consistent with
the pre -excavation characterization sample concentrations, and consistent with naturally occurring
background levels.
The Report recommends that no further assessment or actions are needed based on the screening
activities performed in accordance with the approved Environmental Management Plan (EMP) prior to the
sewer line work, and the post -grade surface sampling conducted following the sewer line installation. The
Brownfields Program concurs with the conclusions and recommendations presented in the Report. No
further assessment activities or actions are requested at this time associated with the sewer line installation
work.
