1.2.2 Existing Area Receptors:
One water supply well (WSW- Ring Power Crane) used for irrigation only is located within
225 feet of the source area. One water supply well (WSW -Rowan / Cabarrus Community
College) used for only irrigation is located 1,010 feet to the north-northeast of the source
area. Refer to the following Table and Figure for information and locations of area receptors
within a 1,500-foot radius of the site.
Refer to the following Tables and Figure(s) for information and locations of area receptors
identified.

• MW-5 and MWA 5A and WSW -Ring Power Crane were not sampled during the August
2020 sampling event.
Shield was unable to bail MW-15A due to possible sediment blockage at 3 feet below the
top of casing.
• Shield could not access MW-5. Several pre -built shed structures were for sale on the
site. One of the pre -built structures was positioned over MW-5.
The owner did not readily have the vehicle equipment at the time of site visit to move the
pre -built structures. Shield instructed the owner of the pre -built structures where MW-5
was located. Shield asked the owner to move his structures to allow access to MW-5 in
the future.

Refer to the following table(s) for historical groundwater analytical data.
Refer to Table(s): Table 4
• Predictive Rate of Contaminant Transport:
Refer to the October 1997 Integrity Environmental Consultants Comprehensive Site
Assessment. Contaminant transport is typically in the same direction as groundwater
flow, but with a slower velocity. Refer to the following Tables and Figure:
Refer to Table(s): Tables 2 through 4
Refer to Figure(s): Figure 4 through 7
1.2.6 Other Field Data Collected:
• No additional field data was collected.

Concord, Cabarrus County, North Carolina September 30, 2020
Incident#: 13401 Page 4
2.0 CONCLUSIONS
• Dissolved phase constituents of concern were detected in concentrations exceeding the
NCDEQ NCAC 15A 2L.0202 standards (2L Standards) in monitoring wells MW-4Aand
DW-I during the August 2020 sampling event.
1, 2-dichloroethane (1, 2-DCA) was detected over the NCDEQ gross contaminant level
(GCL) in monitoring well MW-5 in the previous February 2020 sampling event. Shield was
unable to access MW-5 during the August 2020 sampling event, a pre -built shed structure
was positioned over the monitoring well.
• Free product was not detected during this monitoring period.
• When compared to the February 2020 sampling event, the overall concentration of volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) has increased in monitoring well MW-4A.
• When compared to the February 2020 sampling event, the overall concentration of VOCs has
remained relatively the same in monitoring well DW-1.
• The 1,2-DCA concentration in water supply well WSW -Ring Power Crane decreased below
the 2L Standard since the August 2019 sampling event.
• Dissolved phase constituents of concern remained below laboratory analytical detection
limits (Non -Detect [ND]) for the sample collected from monitoring well MW-8AR during
the August 2020 sampling event.
3.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Continue sampling of groundwater on a semi-annual basis as required by the NCDEQ in the
NORR dated July 18, 2013 [MW-4A, MW-5, MW-8AR, MW-15A (if possible) and DW-1]
and recommend including the sampling of WSW -Ring Power Crane, with the next event
report due by March 2021.

QUALIFIERS
Project: 85 Kwik Mart
Pace Project No.: 92492788
le7:119UNIN [e7pt;'?
DF - Dilution Factor, if reported, represents the factor applied to the reported data due to dilution of the sample aliquot.
ND - Not Detected at or above adjusted reporting limit.
TNTC - Too Numerous To Count
J - Estimated concentration above the adjusted method detection limit and below the adjusted reporting limit.
MDL-Adjusted Method Detection Limit.
PQL - Practical Quantitation Limit.
RL - Reporting Limit - The lowest concentration value that meets project requirements for quantitative data with known precision and
bias for a specific analyte in a specific matrix.
S - Surrogate
1,2-Diphenylhydrazine decomposes to and cannot be separated from Azobenzene using Method 8270. The result for each analyte is
a combined concentration.
Consistent with EPA guidelines, unrounded data are displayed and have been used to calculate % recovery and RPD values.
LCS(D) - Laboratory Control Sample (Duplicate)
MS(D) - Matrix Spike (Duplicate)
DUP - Sample Duplicate
RPD - Relative Percent Difference
NC - Not Calculable.
SG - Silica Gel - Clean -Up
U - Indicates the compound was analyzed for, but not detected.
Acid preservation may not be appropriate for 2 Chloroethylvinyl ether.
A separate vial preserved to a pH of 4-5 is recommended in SW846 Chapter 4 for the analysis of Acrolein and Acrylonitrile by EPA
Method 8260.
N-Nitrosodiphenylamine decomposes and cannot be separated from Diphenylamine using Method 8270. The result reported for
each analyte is a combined concentration.
Pace Analytical is TNI accredited. Contact your Pace PM for the current list of accredited analytes.
TNI -The NELAC Institute.
