The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: 01 - This facility was issued a Life of Site permit on August 4, 2015 and expires on October 11, 2025. 02 - Facility has adequate signage.
03 - Facility is secured by chain link fences and locking gates.
04 - Interior roads are made with all-weather construction.
05 - Waste from this facility is permitted to be taken to Sampson Co. Disposal 8202-MSWLF-2000, East Carolina Regional Landfill, 0803-MSWLF-1993 and Brunswick Waste Management Facility, SWP 583 in Lawrenceville Va. 06 – This facility is designed to handle up to 1,000 tons per day.
07 - Facility is permitted to receive waste from within, Duplin, Edgecombe, Franklin, Greene, Halifax, Johnston, Lenoir, Martin, Nash, North Hampton, Pitt, Wake, Wayne and Wilson Counties 08 - The Leachate drains at the Transfer Station were flowing into the leachate system during this inspection.
09 - The total interior of this transfer station was washed March 2021. Receipts were reviewed. 10 - Facility has several certified operators: Melvin Brown, expires 8/15/2021, Ricky Knight, expires 6/20/2021 and Andrew Ward, expires, 6/21/2022.
11 - Screening records were reviewed and up to date. 12 - The tipping floor was 75% full during this inspection. 13 - Load tickets available and reviewed on Mr. Lee’s computer and were up to date with required information. 14 - There was minimal windblown trash during this inspection. 15 - No leaking trailers were noted during this inspection at the stored trailer area. 16 - It appears that better screening of recycle containers are being performed to eliminate comingled waste from being mixed into the recycles as noted on the last inspection. 17 - This facility has been backed up due to Transfer Station Closures in other Counties. 18 - Covid-19 recommendations were followed on this inspection. 19 - Digital pictures were taken during this inspection and some are attached to this report.
