ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The purpose of the inspection was to follow up and to inspect Closed MSW with Section permitting staff.
2. The North Sediment Basin was still in good shape.
3. Section staff didn’t ride around entire perimeter this visit. No major erosion rills were visible. All
sedimentation and erosion control measures must be implemented and maintained as specified in the
approved plan.
4. Although none were seen during visit, any future settled areas should be filled, regraded to meet the slope
requirements of the closure plan and seeded as conditions allow.
5. The cap of the landfill should be mowed so, that the landfill may be properly inspected by Bragg and Section
staff. Mowing should be done during optimal conditions to avoid damage to the cap system.
The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

6. Monitoring wells should be accessible by vehicle. Please be sure access roads are accessible so that the MW’s
are easily inspected by Section staff and sampling staff. MWs should be properly locked, tagged and
undamaged. In the back near sediment basin, Gas MW-9 and WMW-7 were locked with ID tags and seemed
in good condition. Near entrance GP-3R was checked. It was locked, ID was present and it seemed in good
condition.
