Response to 1/12/21 Inspection
Dear Ms Conners: based on the three findings from the January 12, 2021 Inspection, I am writing to
provide an update of City efforts.
1. Impounded surface water: due to the very wet conditions until recently, the City has not
yet added soil or regraded the areas along the berms. We are monitoring these areas, and are
working on getting more soil for backfill, as well as possibly install downpipes and riprap, to
allow water through the berm in a few locations.
2. Leachate seeping: we have met with Smith Gardner onsite to discuss best remedy at
each location. The City is gathering materials and equipment for this work. Again, due to the
very wet conditions even walking to the sites was causing more damage to ground cover. The
seeps are staying within the waste footprint and with recent sunny/drying conditions, the actual
breakout spots can be much better identified. We are planning to undertake repairs starting in
the next week or two. The seeps on the south side a less defined and may take several days to
remedy.
3. Water getting to annulus of wells: We continue to work with MP Durham, the LGTE
contractor, to re -install the lids when possible, remove growth around and inside the well boxes,
add drain holes to allow water to drain and add soil inside the box if needed.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to make improvements and ask for a 120-day extension
to address the items above.
