Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules. The Septage Detention and Treatment facility (SDTF) consists of two 2,000-gallon steel tanks, one 4,000-gallon steel tank and one 8000-gallon steel tank above tanks for storage and treatment of domestic septage. 2. Set-back/buffer requirements appear to have been met. 3. Appropriate signage (No Trespassing signs) is posted for the site. 4. All weather roads are maintained for access to the site. 5. The 2,000-gallon tanks appeared to be structurally sound. 6. The 4,000-gallon tank was observed to have an open hole with evidence of a past leak (see photo below) next to an earlier repair. Tanks that have any area below the entrance where leaks may occur cannot be used and must be emptied. The tank cannot be used again until it is repaired. Any septage that is remaining in the tank must be removed immediately. 4,000 gallon tank 7. The 8,000-gallon tank was observed to have multiple open holes and extensive rust damage with evidence of a previous leaks on the side. Tanks that have any area below the entrance where leaks may occur cannot be used and must be emptied. This was observed in previous inspections and appears to have been emptied. The tank cannot be used again until it is repaired. 8. The area around the tanks was found to be free of spills and debris. 9. No objectionable odors were observed around the tanks.
