The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
The Facility is a Household Hazardous collection facility operated by Brunswick County Solid Waste Department. This
facility is permitted to receive Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) generated within Brunswick County.
1. Signage posted at the facility indicates permit number, emergency contact numbers and hours of operation. The
hours of operation are listed as the third Thursday of each month from 9:00am to 12:00 pm. A trained attendant
is onsite during the operational hours.
2. The site is secured by chain link fence and locked gate when not in operation.
3. Onsite personnel are trained in accordance with the approved training program in the Operation Plan.
4. The facility has an office on site for employee use and records storage
5. The facility staff maintains records of the waste in and shipped out in order to complete the required facility
annual report.
6. Materials are segregated as they are received.
7. All hazardous waste is collected and sorted in an existing, premanufactured building located beside
the landfill’s scale house building. Universal waste will be stored and palletized in the existing building.
8. Hazardous waste is stored in a premanufactured, steel chemical storage building. The total storage of the
building is 35,250 pounds with a drum capacity of 33. The building contains a fire suppression system, static
grounding system, leak proof spill-containment sump assembly, and a fan system.
9. Adequate aisle space in the storage areas is being properly maintained to allow for the unobstructed
movement of personnel, fire protection equipment, spill control equipment, and decontamination
equipment to any area of the facility operation in an emergency.
10. Containers are covered from rain and pallets are placed on top of impervious surface in order to minimize
contact with soil and visually verify that leakage is not occurring.
11. The facility does not accept ammunition, explosives, and radioactive, infectious, medical, and commercial
wastes.
12. The facility was clean and being well maintained.
13. Digital photos were taken during the inspection.
