Dear Mr. Brown,

This letter provides notice of the compliance status for the Greenway Waste Solutions of Apex, LLC
(Greenway) waste management facility located at 5940 Old Smithfield Road in Apex, as it pertains to the
laws and rules governing solid waste management in North Carolina. This letter is provided to Greenway
at your request as part of the facility’s franchise renewal application with Wake County.

Solid Waste Section staff recently conducted an inspection of the facility on October 29, 2020 and found
the facility to be operating in accordance with the applicable laws, rules, and the facility permit.
Additionally, the facility’s current groundwater monitoring status is detection only. Therefore, there are
no known compliance issues at this time.

This letter does not address any compliance related matters, should they exist, with other DEQ Divisions,
nor local, state, or federal agencies who may also have regulatory oversight of the facility.
