Easley, Governor William G. As you related to us, one of the transfer facility employees had in washing down the tipping floor of the facility overflowed the wastewater drain and some wash water entered the stormwater drain. You said that the material that had turned the water blue was probably floor absorbent. Mr. Davis took a sample of the blue water at the stormwater grate and you soaked up the residue with a "pig" blanket. Based on this occurrence, we ask that you submit to us procedures that will be implemented to prevent this type of incident from occurring again. Please submit this information to Troy Harrison and to Deborah Aja at the Asheville Regional Office. Please call if you have any questions. Sincerely, James E. Fifteen of the thirty stormwater grates ( solid tops ) have been replaced with slotted grates which will allow ample drainage into the stormwater trench. Should you have any question please feel free to call. Respectfully, /JY'e Gary A.
