FACILITY COMPLIANCE INSPECTION REPORT Division of Waste Management Solid Waste Section Page 2 of 2 ADDITIONAL COMMENTS 1. A no trespassing sign was displayed at the entrance. 2. All tanks were accessible for inspection. 3. Tanks appeared structurally sound. 4. Violations of septage rules were observed in two areas. (1) At the offloading area, a hose discharging septage into a grit container was leaking onto the ground. (2) Under and around tanks 1,7 and 8 the remains of a septage spill were observed. In this area a pipe transferring septage had failed. Lime had been spread over parts of the affected area. Any septage spilled or leaked on the ground surface where it is not permitted, should be cleaned up. Failing hoses, pipes, fittings, and other appurtenances should be replaced or repaired to prevent future septage spills from occurring. 5. Odor and vectors were noticeable but not severe. The area of the SDTF is surrounded by bar screening, septage dewatering, a composting operation and feedstocks. Odor and vectors were minimal to non- detectable at the boundaries of the site. 6. All approved setbacks appeared to be met. 7. The access road is of all-weather construction and was passable 8. Records of dates septage is received and removed from the facility, names of the septage management firms that delivered septage, type and amount, in gallons, of septage received and where septage is discharged were being kept and appeared to be current.
