HomeMy WebLinkAbout4503_ROSCANS_2009Annual Wastewater Treatment System Performance Report for Fletcher Warehousing Company WWTP for the Operating Period RE '00%, � ULIVED January thru December, 2008 MIAR _ 9 '1009 DENR - WATER QUALITY POINT SOURCE BRANCH Preface On July 20 1999, the North Carolina General Assembly ratified House Bill 1160; the Clean Water Act of 1999, which place significant new reporting requirements on those entities that own or operate wastewater treatment and collection systems. Specific items included: 1. A Spill Response Plan 2. Sewer Collection System Operation &Maintenance Plan 3. Annual Performance Report These new requirements became effective October 1, 1999. This report is designed to meet the minimum requirements for the Annual Performance Report established by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DEHNR) as set forth in their guidance document dated October 19, 1999. This law was established to provide a mechanism for public oversight (and hopefully, to instill public confidence) in owners and operators of wastewater treatment systems and in their efforts to protect the waters of the state. f I. General Information Facility/System Name: Responsible Entity: Person(s) in Charge/Contact: Applicable Permits: Fletcher Warehousing Company WWTP Henderson County Fletcher Warehousing Company �tt1.�j.el�xi., Warehouse Manager Robert Orr — Operator -in Responsible Charge (ORC) Henry Dyar, Project Manager - Goldie & Associates NPDES # NC0000094 Description of Treatment Process, Collection System, and Facilities Served: -,, 5; \ " C.� Treatment Process — The treatment facility is a conventional "Activated Sludge" process capable of treating 4.0 million gallons per day (MGD). The current NPDES Permit allows for 0.010 MGD flow. Collection System —The main collection system is a standard gravity design with 8-inch diameter pipe and standard pre -cast manholes: The system has a Spill Response Plan and an Operation and Maintenance Plan for the sewer collection system. Facilities Served - The facility serves the warehousing operation with approximately 10 employees and serves to treat activated sludge removed from small wastewater treatment L` package plants. NOTE: This facility was originally constructed to serve Cranston Print Works, a textile print and dye manufacturing entity. Cranston Print Works ceased operations and sold the facilities. Fletcher Warehousing Company converted the manufacturing facility into a warehousing facility. Fletcher Warehousing Company is keeping the WWTP facility in a state of j operational readiness to serve additional area wastewater needs should the need arise. The facility is currently functioning much like an oxidation basin because of the very low flow and is more than capable of treating the very low volume. II. WWTP Performance All operating parameters were in compliance with NPDES permit limits for 2008, except for the following occurrence. In May 2008 there was a fecal coliform violation. We take pride in our efforts to protect the local environment and the quality of waters in our streams. III. Collection System Performance The collection system experienced no significant problems for the reporting period. IV. Notification A notice advising of the availability of this report will be sent to each user. A copy of this report is available to interested persons in the offices of.
