A Permit to Operate was issued to Currin Brothers, Inc. LCID Landfill No. 2 (32I-LCID-1995) on December 1, 2015
and expires on October 21, 2020. A permit renewal application has been submitted and is under review.

The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
On September 21, 2020, Davy Conners conduct a partial compliance inspection of the Currin Brothers, Inc. LCID Landfill
No. 2 on Coley Road in Durham, Durham County. The facility is a land clearing and inert debris (LCID) landfill and is
permitted to receive the following solid wastes generated within Durham County: land clearing waste, yard trash,
untreated and unpainted wood, uncontaminated soil, inert debris, and used asphalt.
1. During the inspection, the facility had started disposing of LCID waste in Area 4 and possibly 6. The current
permit allows for operation in Areas 1-6 and construction of and operation in Areas 7-8.
2. Areas 1, 2, 3, and 5 are not active and have soil and vegetative cover on them. Mulch has been used on top of the
soil cover in these areas to help prevent erosion and establish vegetation. A small amount of additional mulch is
being stored on the top of the inactive areas.
3. The working face was small and compacted with soil cover on top. Soil is mined on site to use as cover material.
4. A pile of tires was observed along the edge of the mine in the forested area. Tommy said the tires were not
hauled in and had been there for as long as he had worked there. Within 30 days, these tires must be disposed
of at a permitted site for tire disposal. Keep record of disposal of these tires.
5. Granit and other countertop materials were observed along the service road. Please note, any natural
countertop material with web backing or that has had a sealant applied to it, and any man-made
countertop material, are NOT inert debris and cannot be used for beneficial fill. This material must be
disposed of at a CDLF or MWSLF.
