Dept. NRCD OCT 2 7 1999 Winston-S!--n Regional OfiNC The following is the second quarterly report for the above referenced project. Attached are the laboratory results, sample location map, and chain of custody for the soil samples obtained on October 9, 1989. The results show that the remedial activities have been successful since all the 8020 parameters and total petroleum -hydrocarbons were found to be less than the detection limits. Each sample was obtained from a composite of three randomly chosen locations within the three different areas; hence, three samples from three areas at depths of 12", 24", and 36". This sampling pattern adequately covers the remediated area and would have also identified any contaminates that may have infiltrated deeper in the soil. Colonial now believes that remediation activities can be discontinued, the gravel can be reDl.aced in the tank dike, and normal activities can be resumed in the area. Colonial requests that the State of North Carolina issue a written release from remedial measures and allow closure of this project.
