August 2020 Monthly CAP Report
Dear Ms. Drummond:
Mecklenburg County conducted monthly corrective action plan monitoring at the closed
Holbrooks Road Landfill on July 16, 2020 in accordance with the approved corrective action plan
dated November 2, 2018. This report details the results of that monitoring event.
Samples were collected from nine (9) landfill gas probes (HP-3, HP-4, HP-8R, HP-9, HP15R,
HP-16R, HP-18R, HP-24, HP-25, HP-26 and HP-27) ,nine (9) passive trench vents (MV-1, MV-
2, MV-3, MV-4, MV-5, MV-6, MV-7, MV-8 and MV-9), one on site building (Building), the
passive flare landfill gas system (SYS2) and the active landfill gas system (SYST, GWO1 and
GW02).
Results of the landfill gas extraction systems are shown in Table 1. System was operating
normally. The Landfill Gas Monitot•ing Data Form is also attached. The valve that connects the
system to HP-15R was opened prior to sampling. That valve will remain open to assist in gas
recovery at the property line. The passive landfill gas trench was also modified prior to sampling.
The trench vents were removed and capped and the valve was opened to connect to the active
system. The valve was opened on July 29 to connect the passive system to the active system. We
are continuing to balance the system to maximize gas recovery at the site.
