The UST Section, Division of Waste Management, Mooresville Regional Office (MRO)
received the May 28, 2020 Groundwater Monitoring Report on June 2, 2020. The report
recommending continuing quarterly groundwater monitoring events was reviewed and approved on
August 27, 2020. The electronic copy has been loaded to the electronic document storage system
(Laserfiche).
The report indicates:
• The groundwater flow direction was generally to the south and southeast, consistent with
previous site information.
• Groundwater samples were collected from 15 site monitoring wells (GWO1, GW02, GW03A,
GW04, GW05, GW06, GW07, GWO8, GW09D, GW 10, GW 12, GW 13D, GW 14D, GW 15,
and GW 15D) on April 1, 2020. Monitoring well GW 11 was unable to be sampled due to an
insufficient amount of groundwater within the well.
• No light non -aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) was present.
• The GCLs were not exceeded for any analyzed compound during the event.

• The groundwater sample collected from monitoring well GW02 contained a benzene
concentration of 1.2 micrograms per liter (ug/L), exceeding the North Carolina 2L Standard
of 1.0 ug/L.
• Other chemical constituents were detected in the sampled wells, however, all were below
their respective 2L Standards.
The next Letter Monitoring Report is due no later than October 31, 2020. If you have any
