Hello Trudy,
Below are some additional information on some of your comments after report review. Let me know if you have any
questions, thanks.
Concerns
1. FP information (thickness, recharge, depth)
2. Evidence of soil contamination in Area 2 of Sidewalls offsite: SW-N-2(6'), SW-W-2('6), SW-S-2('6), and expanded area
SW-W-2-3 (T). Specifically, no base samples collected in those areas.
1. A. Referenced attached photos are of the Area 2 along the ridge line at the property boundary. There is
about a two foot drop of slope toward Jeff's house starting at the property line to the west sidewall of
excavation.
B. Photo 3250 shows shallow depth to water around 6' to 7' prior to pumping event. Also color change of
soil visible on sidewalls between 3 to 4' due to water table fluctuation. Soils at 4 feet were moist.
C. Photo 3249 shows FP thickness in the bailer that was approximately 0.04'. The excavation was pumped
out at 330 pm and photo 3256 shows the excavation after free product has been removed from the water.
The excavation was backfilled around 5pm on 4/17, slow recharge of water, no visible free product or sheen
at that time.
2. A. The excavation of Area 2 was extended to 11' along the ridge line and extended to 4' along the western
sidewall. Base samples were not collected in both areas because the samples would be affected by ground
water contamination and not indicative of soil. Once depth of water table was identified, sidewall samples
were collected.
B. Soil sample SW-W-2-3 (3') identified some soil contamination in the 3' zone that was above the RAL. An
additional soil sample (SW-W-2-4(3')) was collected in the general vicinity of that soil sample which was
below the RAL. That area was excavated to —4' bgl and significantly expanded in order to obtain samples
that were non detect, if possible. In doing so the affected soils identified in sample SW-W-2-3 (3') was
removed.
C. Following excavation of the western sidewall, soil samples were collected near the base at 3' at the three
remaining sidewalls. The concentrations were all below the RALs.
In conclusion for the offsite property excavation, only sidewall soil samples were collected due to the shallow depth of
ground water. Sidewall soil samples collected above water table are below the RALs indicate that an offsite notice for
residual petroleum is not required.
