Dear Mr. Gaither:
Blue Ridge Paper Products, Inc. has successfully completed piezometer abandonment at Landfill
No. 6, in Canton, North Carolina, as approved in a letter from the North Carolina Department of
Environment and Natural Resources (NCDENR) Division of Waste Management dated June 26,
2009. The abondoned piezometers are those located directly in the area involved in the
construction of Landfill 6, Area D South.
AE Drilling services conducted the abandonment of the 14 piezometers during a two -week
period from July 20 through August 3, 2009. All work was performed in accordance with 15A
NCAC 2C .0113(b)(1), entitled "Abandonment of Wells". The locations of the 14 piezometers
abandoned are shown in Figure 1, attached, and summarized in Table 1, below. Abandonment
records (GW-30 form) for all locations are also included for your records.
In addition, I will forward each of these records to you electronically.
