Re: Assessment Monitoring Sampling and Analysis Modification
Brownfield Road C&D Landfill
Permit# 9231-CDLF-2012
FID 1442227
Dear Mr. Pepper,
The Solid Waste Section (Section) has reviewed the First Semi-Annual 2020 Water Quality
Monitoring Report (FID 1442226) for the Brownfield Road Construction and Demolition Landfill
submitted on behalf of Waste Industries by Golder Associates NC, Inc. (Golder). During the two
2019 monitoring events and the June 2020 event, groundwater samples from all of the monitor
wells were analyzed for Appendix II constituents twice. There were no additional Appendix II
constituents detected during the monitoring events with the exception of mercury and
Brownfield Road has requested to resume analyzing groundwater samples for Appendix I
constituents plus indicator parameters. Based on the results of the previous three groundwater
monitoring events, Brownfield Road CDLF may resume analysis of Appendix I constituents plus
mercury and indicator parameters.
Appendix II monitoring may become necessary in a subset of wells and/or at a reduced frequency
if new contaminants of concern are reported above applicable standards during future
monitoring events. If you have any comments or concerns, please contact me at (919) 707-8288
or via email at ervin.lane@ncdenr.gov.
Sincerely,
Ervin Lane
