Landfill Gas Monitoring Report - First Quarter of 2020
Project No. 2912621, Phase 04
Dear Miles,
LaBella Associates (LaBella) is submitting the attached methane monitoring report for the East
Burke Landfill, Permit Number 12-02. The 2020 second quarter landfill gas monitoring event was
performed on May 5, 2020. During this event, LaBella monitored seven gas probes (GP-1, GP-1B,
GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, GP-5, and GP-6). The approximate locations of the gas probes are depicted in
Drawing 1. The monitoring data for the gas probes and buildings are summarized in the attached
Landfill Gas Monitoring Data Log.
Methane was detected above the lower explosive limit (LEL) in gas probes GP-1, GP-3, and GP-4. No
methane was detected in any of the other probes. These detections and exceedances are consistent
with previous results and are summarized in Table 1 and Table 2, respectively.
We have included a NCDEQ Environmental Monitoring Reporting Form (EMRF) and will forward a
copy of this report to Jaclynne Drummond with the NCDEQ Solid Waste Section. A copy of this report
should be maintained in the facility's records. The next quarterly monitoring event is scheduled for
the third quarter of 2020. If we can provide any additional information, please do not hesitate to call
me at (336) 323-0092.
Respectfully submitted,
LaBella Associates

Attach a test location map or drawing. Report methane readings as both % LEL and % CHa by volume.
Convert % CHa (by volitme) to % LEL as follows: % methane (by volume)/20 = % LEL.
"Hydrogen Sulfide (H1S) gas monitoring may be required for Construction & Demolition Landfills (CDLFs). See
