Don Misenheimer called Drew Hammonds on May 6, 2020 to notify him of a fire at the Raleigh Transfer
Station 9215T. Davy Conners followed up with Don over the phone May 7, 2020 to get more details.
The fire occurred on May 6, 2020 around 11 am. A load had come in earlier and was pushed to the front
of the transfer station. The staff noticed smoke coming from the pile and when they spread the material
out, a fire started. They were able to put it out with fire extinguisher and then sprayed the waste with
water. They called the fire department who came out and checked for hot spots. The fire department
was unable to find any hot spots and the cause of the fire was undetermined. Approximately one yard
of material was consumed in the fire and four yards were smoldering.
