Waters Edge had previously submitted a May 8, 2019 Initial Assessment Report for the
response to a diesel fuel release at the above -mentioned site located in Concord, North
Carolina (see Figure 1). One of the two confirmatory samples (SS-2) collected on April
10, 2019 detected TPH-DRO at 276 mg/kg which is above the 100 mg/kg threshold. Our
conclusions was to allow some time for the bioremediation amendment applied by
Shamrock to reduce the impact in the soil at that location (see Figure 2).
On March 10, 2020, Waters Edge returned to the site and collected a sample immediately
adjacent to SS-2 (labeled as SS-2A). This was submitted to the laboratory for analysis of
TPH-DRO via Method 8015C Modified. Results detected TPH-DRO at 11.9 mg/kg which
is below the 100 mg/kg DEQ TPH-DRO threshold (see results in Appendix A). As such,
we would conclude that the bioremediation amendment was successful and no further
action is recommended.
