The UST Section, Division of Waste Management, Mooresville Regional Office (MRO)
received the March 2020 Monitoring Report on March 24, 2020. The report recommending
continued semi-annual monitoring was reviewed and approved on April 3, 2020. The electronic
copy has been loaded to the electronic document storage system (Laserfiche).
The report indicates:
• Dissolved phase constituents of concern were detected in concentrations exceeding the
NCDEQ NCAC 15A 2L.0202 standards (2L Standards) in monitoring wells MW-4A,
MW-5, and DW-I during the February 2020 sampling event.
• 1, 2-dichloroethane (1, 2-DCA) was detected over the NCDEQ gross contaminant level
(GCL) in monitoring well MW-5 during the February 2020 sampling event.
• Free product was not detected during this monitoring period.
• When compared to the August 2019 sampling event, the overall concentration of volatile
organic compounds (VOCs) has generally increased in monitoring well MW-5.
• When compared to the August 2019 sampling event, the overall concentration of VOCs
has remained relatively the same in monitoring well DW-1.
• The 1, 2-DCA concentration in water supply well WSW -Ring Power Crane exceeds the
2L Standard for the August 2019 sampling event. Shield was unable to sample WSW -

Ring Power Crane during the February 2020 sampling event due to a power outage at the
facility.
• Dissolved phase constituents of concern remained below laboratory analytical detection
limits (Non -Detect [ND]) for the sample collected from monitoring well MW-8AR
during the February 2020 sampling event.
The next monitoring report is due by September 30, 2020. Please note that sampling and
correction action must be conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for Assessment and
Corrective Action for UST Releases. Failure to comply in the manner and time specified may
result in the assessment of civil penalties and/or the use of the other enforcement mechanisms.
