Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules. All photos were taken by Lee Hill on March 5, 2020. 2. The facility is secured by a Forest Service gate which was locked upon arrival to the landfill. 3. A landfill gas assessment was conducted in 1999 and the Solid Waste Section responded on February 2, 2000 stating that further monitoring was not required. 4. The facility has conducted its groundwater monitoring however; the reporting has been delayed due to laboratory backlog. The facility has been in contact Solid Waste Section Hydrogeologist, Elizabeth Werner. 5. Good vegetative cover was observed on the landfill cap which is being mowed on a regular basis. The cap was last mowed during the fall of 2019. 6. All groundwater monitoring wells were observed to be locked at the time of inspection. The facility is in the process of replacing the well labels. 7. An edge of waste marker on the south side of the landfill had been struck by mowing equipment. Repair the broken edge of waste maker. Positive drainage was being maintained on the cap and the no standing water was observed. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding this inspection report.
