The North Carolina Division of Waste Management (Division) has received the selected remedy to
address groundwater contamination at the C&D Landfill (Phase 1 and Phase 2) located at 802
Recycling Lane, Pitt County, North Carolina. EJE Recycling & Disposal, Inc./C&D Landfill, Inc.
submitted the North Carolina Solid Waste .0545 Groundwater Corrective Action Permit Modification
Application dated December 2019 on December 6, 2019 (FID 1378617).
The Division is responsible for evaluating and approving selected remedies and is soliciting public
comment on the proposed selected remedy that has been proposed for this landfill. The proposed
selected remedy includes monitored natural attenuation (MNA) and landfill capping to address
groundwater contamination at the landfill. Other remedial alternatives that were considered are also
discussed in the Assessment of Corrective Measures dated October 2017 (DIN 28637).

During the public comment period any interested person may submit comments on the selected
remedy or request a public hearing. All comments shall be submitted in writing. Also, a request for a
public hearing shall be in writing and shall state the nature of the issues proposed to be raised in the
hearing.
