Reynolds Tobacco Company (RJRT), ERM NC, Inc. (ERM) is submitting documentation of abandonment for off -site piezometers associated with the subject property. Four piezometers were installed in1993 on property owned or leased by RJRT as part of a hydrogeological study of the Site and surrounding area. The properties have since been divested or leases terminated and RJRT no longer controls the property. The piezometers have not been utilized as part of routine water sampling. Figure 1 depicts the approximate piezometer locations. Piezometers B-9 and B-14 were abandoned in accordance with 15A NCAC 2C - Well Construction Standards on December 12, 2019. Piezometer B-9 was located on the Lipka (formerly Boyd, formerly RJRT) property within the overhead power right-of-way maintained by Duke Energy and piezometer B-14 was located on the Hawks property. Well Abandonment Records for these piezometers were submitted to the NCDEQ Division of Water Resources and copies are enclosed. Efforts to locate piezometers B-10 and B-11 on the Lipka property were unsuccessful after vegetation clearance. It is possible B-10 was previously destroyed during right-of-way maintenance by Duke Energy. Additionally, B-11 may have been destroyed during previous land clearing activities by the property owner. No evidence of B-10 or B-11 was observed and these piezometers are considered to have been destroyed. Please contact Mr. Scott Snow of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company at 336-741-2236 or me if you have any questions or comments. Sincerely, AanMaffin P.G. Project Manager Attachments: cc: Mr. Scott Snow - R.J.
