FACILITY COMPLIANCE INSPECTION REPORT Division of Waste Management Solid Waste Section Page 2 of 2 ADDITIONAL COMMENTS 1. Noted general trash (plastic bags, bottles etc) in the solidification pit – although what is in the pit goes to the landfill for final disposal only dewatered septage solids & mulch are permitted to go in this concrete pit (no other types of waste or material). Remove any general trash in the pit and ensure that employees do not dump any other types of waste/trash in the concrete pit. 2. Discussed the possibility that a dewatering drum may be used in the future instead of a dewatering box. When that occurs then specifics of its placement, use, permitting etc will be determined. Discussed the possible use of a new storage tank for yellow grease. Since yellow grease is not septage the use of such a tank would not be part of the Septage Detention or Treatment Facility permit, could not be connected to the facility and no effluent/grease water can go on the permitted disposal fields. 3. The above ground tanks appear structurally sound. Mr. Markus stated that the underground pipe work that was done this fall did not significantly change the facility in regards to the current site drawings. 4. It appears that septage is being transferred to/from the facility in a safe and sanitary manner. No leaks or spills noted at this time in the tank area. No septage spills or contaminated material were noted on the ground surface around the solidification pit. 5. The required signs are posted and visible. The access road is adequate. 6. The approved setbacks are being met. No apparent physical change in the facility. 7. The required 5 foot cleared radius (free of excess vegetation or debris) is present around the storage tanks & concrete pit.
