The UST Section, Division of Waste Management, Mooresville Regional Office (MRO)
received the October 24, 2019 Monitoring Report on November 15, 2019. The report recommending
continued limited monitoring was reviewed and approved on November 20, 2019. The paper report
copy will be maintained in the MRO. The electronic copy has been loaded to the electronic
document storage system (Laserfiche).
The report indicates:
• EPH and VPH were detected at concentrations above their associated NC 2L Groundwater
Standard in recovery well RW-1 during this reporting period. VOCs such as benzene,
isopropylbenzene, methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), and naphthalene were detected in the
groundwater collected from RW-1. Naphthalene is the only VOC detected in exceedance of
the 2L Standard in RW-1. SVOCs such as 2-methylnaphthalene, phenanthrene, and pyrene
were detected in the groundwater sample collected from RW-1; however, 2-
Methylnaphthalene is the only SVOC that was detected in exceedance of the 2L Standard.
Lead was not detected above its associated NC 2B Standard in groundwater samples
collected during the October 2018 event.
• Lead was detected below the 2L Standard in groundwater samples collected from MW-3 and
MW-4. No other compounds were detected above their respective 2L Standards in
groundwater samples collected from onsite wells. pH was measured at a value lower than the

established 2L Standard pH range in samples collected from monitoring wells MW-2 and
RW-1.
