(BofA, property owner) and Melynda Road Realty, LLC (MRR, prospective developer), Hart & Hickman, PC (H&H) is pleased to provide this letter summarizing the recent installation of the demarcation fabric cover at the former buried trenches area (SWMU 22) on the subject site. The scope of work for this activity was previously summarized in Appendix B of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) dated February 1, 2019 and approved by DEQ in electronic mail correspondence dated February 1, 2019. From October 8 to October 9 2019, H&H provided oversight for the installation of an orange, non -woven demarcation fabric at the former buried trenches area. Photographs of the installation are contained in Attachment A. The fabric was rolled -out over the former buried trenches area footprint (approximately 46,330 square feet) and each new roll overlapped the previous roll by approximately one -foot. The fabric was pre -stenciled with the label "Danger Do Not Dig" in both English and Spanish and secured into the ground with metal fasteners placed at approximately five-foot intervals along the fabric edges and interior. 2923 5outh Tryon Street, Suite 100 3921 Sunset Ridge Rd, Suite 301 Charlotte, NC 28203 Raleigh, NC 27607 www.harthickman.com 704.586.0007 main 919.847.4241 main Sharon P. Eckard, PG November 7, 2019 Page 2 Three-foot long steel rods were placed and installed at the corners of the fabric cover to enable future locating of the former buried trenches area footprint and surveying. The Brownfields plat map identifying the "Area of Potential Soil Contamination" where the demarcation fabric was installed is shown on the figure in Attachment B. The fabric cover was subsequently overlain with approximately six inches of gravel by MRR in preparation for shipping container storage. MRR will add gravel as needed to prevent uneven conditions and to retain a minimum six-inch cover over the demarcation fabric.
