Shannon,
As noted in your email, the laboratory report indicates that the concentrations of compounds
detected in the soil characterization samples are less or comparable to known compound
concentrations in soil at the site. The NCDEQ Brownfields Program approves the implementation of
the soil excavation activities proposed in the Environmental Management Plan (EMP). This approval
is based on the understanding that a characterization report signed and sealed by a NC licensed
engineer or geologist will be submitted to the NCDEQ.

Good Afternoon Bill,
Per our telephone discussions and the provision outlined in your email dated July 27, 2018, please
find the attached data summary table, sample location map, and laboratory analytical data report
for the additional soil characterization samples which were recently collected from the proposed cut
area at the former K-Town Furniture (Proposed Ballpark and Entertainment Venue) site (Brownfields
Project No. 22031-18-013). The additional soil characterization samples (labeled SB-27 through SB-
32) are depicted by light blue circles on the attached Sample Location Map.
Because the detected concentrations of compounds in the soil characterization samples are
generally lower or comparable to known compound concentrations at the site, we are submitting
this information prior to submittal of the assessment report to allow site activities to commence.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
Shannon
