Two copies of the results are included, one for your files and one for the landfill facility files. There was one detection of methane in a compliance monitoring point above the lower explosive limit (LEL) during the second quarterly methane monitoring event. The crawl space of the Blake residence was also monitored for methane gas during the third quarterly methane monitoring event and no methane was detected. Monitoring of the crawl space was performed at the request of the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NC DEQ), as discussed at a meeting between Moore County and NC DEQ on March 10, 2016. This location will continue to be monitored during future landfill gas monitoring events. Construction of the new landfill gas cut-off trench near MW-15 was completed on November 2, 2018. The two passive gas vents installed as part of this trench were monitored during this during this methane monitoring event. Methane was detected in these gas vents; and methane gas in MW-15 was detected at a concentration above the upper explosive limit (UEL) during the third quarterly methane monitoring event. Methane was also detected above the UEL in gas vent GV-33 during the event. A copy of the NC DEQ Environmental Monitoring Form, the Boundary Gas Probe Monitoring Log, and the Methane Monitoring Location Map will be forwarded to NC DEQ, as required by regulation.
