DIN 25735 Dear Mr. Gurley:
The Solid Waste Section has completed a review of the Submittal of Groundwater and Surface Water
Monitoring Results Second Semiannual 2015 Event dated February 12, 2016 (DIN 25734) and submitted
on behalf of Republic Services, Inc. by Jett Environmental Consulting for the Lake Norman C&D Landfill, Solid Waste Permit Number 55-04. The landfill entered the Assessment Monitoring Program in accordance
with 15A NCAC 13B .0545 in March 2015.
Republic Services, Inc. is requesting that groundwater monitoring well MW-4 be abandoned due to well
construction problems. The adjacent downgradient groundwater monitoring well MW-5 would be utilized instead as a replacement groundwater monitoring well within the compliance monitoring network at the landfill. Groundwater monitoring well MW-4 will not be sampled during the May 2016 event.
As a result, the request is approved at this time. After proper abandonment is completed in accordance with 15A NCAC 2C, please submit a Well Abandonment Record to both the Division of Water Resources and
