ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. Was asked to visit the site to see how the cropstand was doing – in regards to authorizing A Countywide Septic
to discharge on the site. The cropstand has improved since the last inspection on 2/27/2019 – better overall
coverage. Groundcover is becoming established on the traffic path that was noted on the last visit. Informed
Mr. Jones by phone that A Countywide Septic could begin discharging on the site (an authorization form
has already been submitted to the Raleigh office for 2019). But I did discuss with Mr. Jones that there were
scattered dead/thin patches of vegetation – Mr. Jones stated that the rye was cut late this spring & could have
shaded out those areas of Bermuda. We also discussed that possibility it was from heavy applications or grease
discharges. Mr. Jones stated that reseeding work had been done on the dead/thin patches. Ensure that all
discharges are done properly – no heavy application or inadequately diluted grease and continue efforts
to improve the Bermuda & control weeds. Please contact Georgia Love (regional agronomist) for advice
as needed.
2. Did not drive over entire site due to recent heavy rains. Noted that one or two markers were missing on the
north side of the site. Enclosed site map for reference. Discussed this with Mr. Jones by phone – reinstall any
missing posts as per Rule .0842(a)(10) “disposal are boundaries shall be marked on the ground while a site or
any portion of a site is in use.”
3. No sign of land application outside the permitted boundaries. No apparent sign of heavy or recent application.
No odors noted.
4. It appears that the approved setbacks are being met but were not measured at this time.
5. The required signs are posted and the access road is adequate.
6. Mr. Jones stated that plans were to expand the disposal fields and asked for a site meeting to discuss this
change. Will contact you in the future (most likely early August) to schedule a site visit.
