ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The facility consists of a transfer facility, convenience area for recyclables, tires, cardboard, metal, construction and
demolition debris, brush, rigid plastic, white goods, batteries, antifreeze, used oil and electronic.
2. The required signage is posted at the entrance of the facility to prevent unauthorized access.
3. The facility is secured by an automatic gate at the entrance of the facility.
4. The facility is permitted to receive solid waste generated from within Iredell County.
5. An average of 173 tons of municipal solid waste is received at the facility each operating day.
6. All waste is taken to the Iredell County MSWLF (Permit # 49-03).
7. No unacceptable waste streams were observed. In response to a request, facility staff performed a waste screening.
The driver of the load selected was directed to dump the load to the left of the transfer station in order not to
interfere with incoming loads. The equipment operator spread out the load in order to be able to examine it for
unacceptable waste. No unacceptable waste was observed during this waste screening.
8. The tipping floor had some cracks and a low area which were pointed out to facility staff. Facility staff stated
resurfacing of the tipping floor was budgeted and approved for the fiscal year beginning on July 1, 2019. The floors
and walls of the transfer station are washed daily. The wastewater is collected by drains in the lower loading bay.
9. A slight amount of waste was observed in the drain at the end of the truck turn around area. This area was pointed
out to facility staff. Facility staff stated the drain is cleaned out once a week. Due to the recent rainfall the drain
was not able to be cleaned out the previous weekend.
