ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. Vehicle damage has occurred on Field 4 across from the dewatering box. Prevent trucks from backing into
Field 4. Repair this area/reestablish the cropstand. Also repair any tire ruts on the fields due to wet weather
(particularly on Field 5).
2. Contact Georgia Love, regional agronomist, (910-690-0270) for advice regarding weed control &
improving the cropstand. Discussed the SLAS inspection process & past violations with Steve Edge. Clarified
that only “septage” may be land applied on the disposal fields (either as regular waste or dewatered effluent).
Discussed lime stabilization to achieve a pH 12 for land application to occur and that grease septage shall be
adequately diluted to prevent any grease burns. Land application procedures shall ensure adequate truck speed,
pressure and spreader attachment to prevent heavy application of waste.
3. It appears that the approved setbacks are being met but were not measured at this time. Asked Mr. Edge to
verify the property line at the corner of Fields1, 4 & 5 to ensure the 50 foot setback is present in this area.
4. No sign of land application outside the permitted boundaries.
5. A corner post was knocked down at the front right corner of Field 3. Mr. Edge stated that it would be
reposted.
6. The required signs are posted and the access road is adequate.
7. No apparent recent application. No odors noted.
8. Please inform this office if the area that was previously removed from Field 5 for the compost site is to be
added back into Field 5 – as the field will need to be reGPSd if that is the case.
