Dear Mr. Gurthie:
The UST Section, Division of Waste Management (DWM), Mooresville Regional Office (MRO) received the
October 3, 2018 Free Product Recovery Report on October 9, 2018. The report recommending that free product
removal efforts be restarted for 6 months, then removing socks to measuring free product thicknesses was reviewed
and approved on February 6, 2019. The paper report copies will be maintained in the MRO. The electronic copy has
been loaded to the DWM's electronic document storage system (Laserfiche).
The report states:
• February 21 and August 22, 2018, free product was observed in each of the gauged wells during one or more
gauging events: MW-1 (February, March, and August 2018), MW-2 (August 2018), MW-3 (February, March,
and August 2018), and EW-1 (July 2018).
• Current data indicates that the predominant groundwater flow at the site is in a northeasterly direction.
• No free product was observed during the April 2018 gauging event.
Per this Notice of Regulatory Requirements:
• Continue free product recovery.
Continue annual groundwater sampling/monitoring.
The next monitoring/recovery report is due no later than September 30, 2019.
