Dear Mr. Carpenter:
The UST Section, Division of Waste Management (DWM), Mooresville Regional Office (MRO)
received the December 19, 2018 Monitoring Report on December 27, 2018. The report recommending
continued semi-annual monitoring and Advanced ORC socks or 0-sox be installed in MW-2A and MW-8 was
reviewed and approved on January 25, 2019. The paper report copy will be maintained in the MRO. The
electronic copy has been loaded to the electronic document storage system (Laserfiche).
The report indicates:
• Free product was not detected in the on -site monitoring wells during the November 2018 sampling event.
MADEP aliphatic (C5-C8) and aromatic (C9-C22) constituent concentrations decreased in monitoring wells
MW-2A and MW-8 when compared to the May 2018 sampling event. Aliphatic (CS- C8) and aromatic (C9-
C22) both exceed their respective 21, Standard in monitoring well MW-2A and MW-8. Only aromatic (C9-
C22) exceeds the 21, Standard in monitoring well MW-8.
• Overall volatile organic compound (VOC) concentrations have slightly increased in monitoring well MW-8
and decreased in monitoring well MW-2A but remain to be below 21, Standards. The Naphthalene
concentration in MW-8 was detected above the 2L Standard during the November 2078 sampling event, an
increase from the previous sampling event.
• Total lead was not detected in any of the monitoring wells sampled during the November 2018 sampling
event. Historically, there does not appear to be a correlation between the total lead detections and
petroleum constituent detections. The presence of total lead is considered to be naturally -occurring.
